I was sound asleep Friday night until I heard some lady talking loudly on my roof. I live on the last floor, my bed is next to the window so when I heard her speaking so loud it felt as if she was in the room with me.
I looked at the clock and it was 2:35 AM . Since this chick kept speaking loud about how she used to jump from roof to roof as a kid, I couldn't take it anymore and I yelled out the window " BE QUIET". Since they kept on speaking I went to the kids room and closed the window so they wouldn't wake them and when I layed back in bed I heard them moaning and 'STUFF'. I heard everything! I hate to be a buzzkill but if they really feel the need to explore their sexual needs in public they should at least try to keep it on the low. My building is very old I hear every footstep on the roof and in the hallways. I will post this web address on the mailboxes in my building so maybe that way my neighbors can learn how to have consideration for the other tenants in this building.
feel free to leave any comments.

Does this person live in your building? If so, report her to your landlord.
Do you own your building? If so, you should have called the cops.
Who cares what they were doing on your roof at 2:35 AM? Sex, dancing, singing, whatever. Noise is noise and no one should lose a good night's sleep due to noise of inconsiderate people.

Sratch the landlord. Just call the cops. Loud noise in the middle of the night is bullshit.

I had this problem with my downstairs neighbors. The first time it happened I was ready to run down to their apartment, because I thought the woman who lives there was being murdered, she was making so much noise. It would always seem to happen during the afternoon when I was in my study trying to write. I'd suddenly hear the ohhhhhhhhhhhh, ahhhhhhhhh going on for ages.
My conclusions:
1. the woman's husband must be great in bed. She was certainly making enough noise
2. If I could hear so much of their sex life, they could no doubt hear mine too.
3. It was time to buy a powerful stereo to put in my study, and keep the volume turned up, especially in the afternoons _________________ www.preciouswilliams.com

311 is so completely useless. i called them on a recent weeknight at 2am to report that my neighbor had (yet again) left his pit bull puppy out on the fire escape and it was crying and yelping mercilessly. when i tried to report it as a noise complaint, they told i had to write a letter to the EPA including my exact name and address and the exact name and address of the perpetrator. when i tried the animal cruelty angle, they told me to call the ASPCA, which at that time of night, was closed.
Perhaps he is trying to antagonize the pitbull until it becomes a stone cold killer dog? Leaving it out on the fire escape may be only one of the many ways he tortures it in an attempt to bring out its aggression. _________________ www.preciouswilliams.com

If you want to report this person (please do -- leaving a puppy on a fire escape in a downpour is VERY cruel), please call both of these. You might also want to let each of them know you're also informing the other:
AC&C รขโฌโ Brooklyn Animal Care Center: (212) 788-4000
ASPCA: (212) 876-7700, ext. 4450.
Thanks - I have reported them numerous times at other times of the day. I was not able to reach the ASPCA at 2am. _________________ selfindulgence.com

I have a great idea. Next time it happens, make a video of it. Then post the link on this site. O.K. maybe I'm just a perv.

Put a note on their door--nothing too snarky, maybe an ad for Viramax or oen of those "How to please your lady" ads with something funny written on it. Make sure it's in a place everyone in the building can see.

I was going to suggest the same thing, but I fear if we're dealiing with true exhibitionists more visibility is exactly what they want. But heck, I'd be willing to test it!

I can listen to my neighbors having sex pretty much every night.
At the beginning this was rather exciting (2 girls, one very loud) and I pretty much had my ear at the wall
But now it's getting old and I wish they would either change the timing, their routine, or just stop. Of course I'm just jealous and also I'm not comfortable knowing that they can hear ME as well - but still!
I have visitors this week and it's kinda embarrassing and annoying now.
What to do??

wow, when I originally posted this thread I thought
I would read a bunch of "who gives a sh*t" posts, but people really have different opinions about my experience.
I really don't care if people get their freak on , on the roof
but why do I have to know about it?

A friend of mine lived on the third floor once. After her boyfriend moved in with her, she came out of her apartment once and hear 2 of her downstairs neighbors in the lobby of her building talking about how loudly and how often my friend was having sex.
Then they started imitating her "sex noises".
She was embarrassed at first, then thought "fuck it"...held her head high, marched past them and gave a cheery "good morning".

Sorry, I don't get the reference. Does that happen on Washington often? She lived in Bensonhurst at the time, so I doubt think they would have heard her over there!

Next time get a big bat and a flashlight. Go bursting through the door to the roof yelling "ARGHHHHHHH" flash the light on them and then say "sorry thought you were burglars". That should kill the mood

yes, most of the people on my block have the same type of apt. and the same story to tell. lots of loud "imitating" teenagers on the other side of the air shaft, you see...

My roof doors have an alarm so I couldn't do that.
I have heard neighbors having sex before, I've even seen a neighbor beating off in front of his laptop but the difference is these people were in their own apartment.
This incident happened at 2:35 in the morning, on the roof less than 10 feet from my window. Anyone with kids can tell you that you barely sleep as it is

When we used to live in the East Village we could hear what we thought at first was a cat being tortured, then maybe a woman being tortured, then a woman having really strange extended excruciating orgasms, and finally we decided she must be a professional--because who could go on and on like that for hours (really) and why was she screaming rather than moaning? It was truly bewildering.

My neighbors are really stupidly noisy in many ways the sex is just one part of it. Why don't people understand or care that you need to be mindful of your neighbor's right to quiet enjoyment.' I go out of my way to not be noisy. If you want to make a lot of noise buy your own house.
When my neighbor was having sex one night I got so fed up after they woke me at 3 am that I said (loud enough for them to hear) :Wow that was fast he must be lousy in bed. Sounds like she's faking it." I didn't hear them after that.

I usually don't say things like this but;
"That post was from 2006, maybe you should have some sex instead of looking through the history of the Brooklyian"

*sigh this happen with one of my old tenants when they first move in, they just got out of college, left all the front doors open, wide open. i heard screaming, i ran in thinking someone was getting killed or raped or robbed and than realize they didn't really make it pass the door having sex.
so i close all the front doors and their door and left. god people have no shame.
two front doors to the building, and their apartment door.
i mean come on!! close the doors at least. _________________ Fight white guilt and injustice by going to a Native American casino and gamble your money away.

If called they'll probably send some undercover cops, who will more then likely give her a cavity search.

I have neighbors who have sex, loudly, and then FLING their used condom out the window. It is seriously disgusting. Not to mention they are uniquely unpleasant, unattractive (and lets face it, that latter quality seriously affects one's ability to put up with loud neighbor sex) people.
Any advice?
Should I go find one of them one time and put it in their mailbox?
