I remember when that "debate: broke out on PSP a few weeks ago and I couldn't believe how it went on and on and on and on. It was obviously so ridiculous. But PSP has a policy of signing your names to your posts--it is a bit disconcerting to suddenly find something posted online to be printed and out in public beyond the confines of the user group. I would be pissed if I had added my two cents to that stupid discussion only to find the thread (with my name) being printed and posted elswhere. Does anyone else think that is a bit troublesome?

I am a poster at PSP and post quite a bit-that had to be the most absurd discussion ever! I could not believe the woman who started it all by taking offense to the fact that the first woman called it a boy's hat! UGH!

As for what kensingtonmom is saying-no-I don't think I would be upset to see something i wrote on the internet-the public internet, posted elsewhere. These are not private clubs we have here-and i think people get too cozy in their little internet communities-anybody can find anything on the net-so, if you think you would be mortified to see something of yours posted elsewhere or discussed elsewhere-then, don't write it. At least that is the creed I go by.

And, here, I will even sign my name to it..............Denise

I have bad news anyway.

I recognize that hat from the description, and I am of the opinion that I urinated on it copiously whilst stumbling home from Johhny Mack's after getting bombed.

I apologize to the owner (gender neutral) of the hat, and to the person who found it, use some tongs or something.

We actually considered doing a post on "boy's hat", but didn't, mainly for the concerns listed above: Park Slope Parents is technically (and I emphasize technically) a "private" Yahoo group that is for "members only" but is essentially open to anyone who asks nicely enough.

I know what you mean but at least Gawker removed last names and email addresses. I do think posters on PSP should realize that there are thousands of subscribers and anyone can join just by saying they're a parent in Park Slope. I'm always a little amazed when people sign their real names to detailed descriptions of breastfeeding issues and gynecological conditions. I mean, I have no problem with it being discussed, but this is information I wouldn't necessarily want to share with my neighbors and all the other moms and dads in the PTA, you know?

I thought it was pretty funny. Obviously we're blessed in terms of our standard of living and amount of leisure time to even be able to worry about such nonsense. "OH NOES! NOT a BOY's hat!" Oh (wo)man. Precious stuff.

Last night I was in the coco room, or longe or whatever that place is with the great chocolate on 7th ave, and saw a "Lost: Boy's Hat" sign, someone actually took time to make a poster and hang it up, with a picture from that link of the hat and made an email address to write to if it was found. This was soooo fucking hilarious I about choked on my chocolate! I took a picture of it with my cell phone, but do not know if it is possible to post pics on this forum or not. At anyrate, to the person who made the sign, you have a wonderful sense of humor! [/img]

Not true. You have to demonstrate to someone's satisfaction that you are "with child." Yearners for children are excluded.

What about people that have dog-children? They're just as apt to buy silly clothing--hats included--for their little ones.

And speaking of dogs...mine do like to pee on lost hats that litter the sidewalk. Drunk people and my dogs have much in common.

It is hard to be taken seriously wanting to save the earth driving a gas guzzling SUV around.
