this is a strange one
i went to a favorite restaurant in the city on saturday
the owner told me their lease got raised an obscene amount
and as a consequence will need to move
she wants to move to brooklyn but doesn't know where
her family has been running their restaurant for 10 years in the city
so i promised to help her scout for a new location in crooklyn
i've been up and down 5th/4th avenues looking for any
available commercial space for rent
so far i found one potential space, and am trying to spread the word
if anyone knows of any available commercial spaces{restaurant friendly}
for rent please PM me
like i said. this is a strange one
any leads appreciated

how about negotiating with Beso? Fifth Ave (Union/Pres)
they fill up for weekend brunch, but the place has been a ghost town at dinner for months and months
(and for good reason, I might add)
or is that like scanning the obits for apts?
also the Olive Vine that burned out on Seventh Ave and the adjoining Zuzu's Petals space doesn't appear to have anything new going. That's around Berkeley, on Seventh Ave.
AND I think the Comfort Zone on Fifth Ave just tanked. near 1st or 2nd St.

C'mon we need restaurants over here in Windsor Terrace and Kensington. There are LOTS of people over here ready to spend cash close to home and and no competition. Also lots of empty storefronts waiting go be filled. If they are adventerous and start over here, i believe they could be a success even with mediocre food sadly

if you know of any store fronts{even in windsor terrace} that are restaurant friendly please forward me their info

Ghenet is good. I would suggest they look in PH and FG too. Not so sure about Windsor Terrace and Kensington, that sounds like a bit of a reach

Will do, but offhand the only vacant food place I can think of is that place on 7th Avenue next to the tea lounge...
I'll keep my eyes open though

I LOVE that restaurant and often get an urge for Ethiopian food that is BARELY appeased with Indian food (I kinda sponge at the sauce with Naan and think to myself "this is practically right. almost. oh fine, it's not right at all.")
I'd eat there all the time, especially if they were somewhere in North Slope or PH. _________________ like a smoked meat with an earthy youth overnote

Have you been to the Farm at Adderly? that place is sooo packed. People like good food over here too and we are underserved. These neighborhoods have changed alot in the past two years.

Ethiopian on Cortelyou would be just the thing! I don't know of any particular sites but I'm sure the Cortelyou Road Merchants Association could help.
As long as I've lived in Brooklyn I've thought that Ft Greene/ Clinton Hill would be a perfect market for an Ethiopian restaurant and wondered why no one had opened one here yet. The owners of Ghenet should check with the owner of Liquors on DeKalb Ave. and Bodegas on Fulton--both have been shuttered for a while and would be excellent locations for an Ethiopian place. Myrtle Ave is another good option-- restaurant space is surely cheaper there than on 5th Ave/ DeKalb, and Myrtle is very up-and-coming. Thanks for helping bring Ethiopian to Brooklyn-- I think they'll be happy they came!

There's an empty storefront on Atlantic Avenue two doors in from the corner of Bond and also several recently vacated b/t 3rd and 4th. Not sure if they're better for retail or restaurant--but I think the ones b/t 3rd and 4th have garden access.

Closer to BAM would be even better . . . speaking of, did anything ever go in where Cambodian Cuisine used to be? It already has built-in devotion from the pre- and post-BAM crowd . . .

yeah some gross BBQ place went in there. too bad we lose all authentic ethnic restaurants as burger joints, sports bars, expensive clothing stores, and blimpies take their place.

I am afraid it would be a short list--we are in need of more restaurants over here and some that aren't so expensive. We have a bunch of VERY authentic ethnic restaurants but some are almost too authentic and I have not ventured in (felt like an outsider). But the Farm has good American food using local farm ingredients/free range antibiotic meats etc. Good wine list and good service. Definitely good food.

The Magick Emporium (yes, REALLY) closed and there's a sizeable open retail space on 5th Av b/w 16/Prospect. I would love love love for someone to put a decent restaurant in there and I think it'd do okay since the R train is a mere block away. I have no idea how it's coded or what they're asking, I'm just projecting my own selfish desires. Bring me food!

corner of Fifth Ave at Lincoln/DeGraw, the fancy deli that opened and closed in a short space of time. They did some nice renovation of the space, then tried to sell crazy expensive olive oil and tanked immediately.
THAT would be a great location for Ghenet. It's a pretty big box, centrally located so poised to deliver all over the place.

I saw one space up for rent on prospect Park west between 16th & Winsor place. It used to be Amin Indian.
