I've been living in the slope for 3.5 years now, and everyday when I walk on 7th ave (10th st), I pass this empty but cool-looking storefront labeled "Grace" in scripty letters, next to the tea lounge.
I've always wondered why this place has been empty, and today my roommmate asked me about it when we walked by.
Anyone know whats up with this place and why no one wants to move in there?

Grace was a store that sold expensive yet unappetizing-looking prepared food. I think it only lasted a couple of months. I don't know why no one else has ever moved into that space. Maybe Steve should look into this for his beer store.

Building was for sale. Sign is now gone, so perhaps it has been sold.

The same people who own the grace space must own the cigar place as well.
Grace opened and closed so freaking quickly it was impressive. _________________ For The Love Of Paris, Don't Go To The Lounge!

I bought a side dish there once, and it was okay. I was also impressed how quickly it folded. Why it's still closed is anyone's guess, I'd wager.
What I wanna know: what's going in across from the empty Grace storefront, in where the realtor used to be (next door to the cell phone shop)? It was empty for ages, then a wooden covering just went over the windows. Anyone have the scoop?

Waddup with the cigar place ? Looks large, would seem ideal for a Petite Abeille or some other bistro, which 7th avenue largely lacks...

For many years, it was the Liberty Meat Market and I loved to shop there-- I had never bought meat from a real butcher before, and the guys always offered helpful hints. They were a riot, and I was really disappointed when they closed-- one of the guys told me their rent had nearly doubled in the space of 4 years, so they moved to 5th ave near 9th street and Grace moved in. When Grace closed (almost as quickly as it opened), I revelled in my feelings of schadenfreude.

I'm trying to think of a cool idea for a shop in that space, just for the fun of it. I'm tired of walking by the same empty storefront everyday.
Any ideas? How about a chocolate/dessert shop for the south slope end? Or a rival to the pink pussycat?

I remember Liberty. How about Lehigh meat market on 7th Ave and 2nd? Are you a PSOG?

I think I know the space you're talking about. Been contemplating opening a business in this neighborhood to give myself something to do when I move from the UES real soon.
I'll have to check it out. Sounds like a space that would be good for food/drink oriented business.
What kind of food/drink oriented businesses is this area in need of? I know you have some great restaurants already. Haven't seen many pleasant places to hang out before or after dinner though. _________________ Why hop in the shower when you can just stand

I am still seeking a GOOD wine and cheese place. Nothing local really impresses me. _________________ Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball!

BP. I'm not sure which one you're referring to....is it next to T'ost? If so, I haven't been yet.
Haven't been to FF either, Q, although it's a bit far from me. _________________ Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball!

I wish there was a chill place where I didn't feel like I had to dress to impress.... maybe just throw on a white sports bra and pair of blue spandex... just a place to relax and look at things from a different perspective.
In other news: Park Slope, with the opening of NoNo has official taken the title for the highest density of food/drink establishments per square foot in the world... so, no, I don't think we need another freaking resturant/wine bar/bistro/cafe/or lounge....or dry cleaner/liquor store/real estate agency...or women's boutique...or pizza place.
Any other ideas? Why is it that once a space becomes available the entrepreneurs try to figure out what food niche/service is lacking as the consumers salivate over the possibility of yet another culinary option?
I say save your money: go to uncle moe's for a burrito and then next store for three bud pounders...smoke a fat one and fart yourself to sleep.
Jesus, I amuse myself.

Totally. I can't believe all these places are making money. That said, if there wer a good Pho place around here, I'd be there all the time. _________________ When the experts are agreed, the opposite opinion cannot be regarded as certain.
