just noticed in the L Magazine, advertising for an Inn in the area.
Anyone else seen this? www.guernsey-inn.com this must be the first B&B type accomodation in the area besides the YMCA in Greenpoint
anyone know anything about it? website looks like its inexpensive, clean and new...

That's no inn!!
It's an attached two family frame house that was on the market for a REALLY LONG time because it was a total dump inside. Maybe the new owner (sold in August 2006) turned it into a business. It was really down market.
The description makes it sound quaint, but log onto PropertyShark.com and look at the picture of the property. Not an "inn" in my book!

you can stay at the Greenpoint Y for about $45 a night, including breakfast at the triple decker. plenty of my friends stay there when all they're going to be doing is drinking all night and then getting the chinatown bus home the next day.

we've heard from a local realtor that a lot of those buildings on guernsey (guernsey is one of my fave streets in g-point) are rooming houses on their original cert. of occupancy, which is different to city tax/acris records,... maybe the new owners are renovating and taking advantage of some city zoning nuance... there certainly is a need for reasonably priced accommodation in that area...
we've also noticed on 158 a beautiful set of what looks like, original double doors: its a huge improvement on the slum that was there previously.

This place has had a total and utter make over!!!
It has new cedar siding on the front, it looks amazing, incredible even.
The owners must have spent a fortune to get it to look like that! WOW! There goes the neighborhood! $1m+
