Anyone out here live on this block? We are considering moving here, and want to know what the vibe is like.

i live just one block away.
its nice , you will be on the border of prospect hieghts and crown hieghts.
the block is full of very nice well maintained brown stones. and your only 3 blocks away form the park, museum and the botanical gardens. its really a great place to live. every so often you will get some shady characters walking around and there are car breakins fairly often, but for the most part its safe.

Someone else asked about this same block not long ago. I don't think that there were that many posts, but it might be worth searching for...

i moved to my first prospect heights apartment, on park place between underhill and washington, 6 years ago. i loved it. i've moved 4 times since (only when i had to) and haven't moved more than 2 blocks away each time. i love it here, and that block was my intro to the nabe. i say go for it! _________________ you're welcome to stay, but even your company must compliment the feng-shui.

Great block. I started on Underhill and have since moved to Washington Ave and have never even thought about changing neighborhoods. More diverse than Park Slope, and cheaper too. Up-and-coming in terms of restaurants, cafes, etc. And of course the beautiful Museum, Gardens, Park and Grand Army just a 5 minute walk from said block.
However, I did cross a mugging victim on Underhill between Park and Prospect this summer, who was robbed for his celly by a group of kids. So you DO have to watch your back to a degree, as is the case anywhere in Brooklyn.

Thanks, all - to be clear, I currently live on Eastern Parkway btw Wash and Underhill, so I am no stranger to the greater nabe.
But given the difference between the massive apartment buildings on the busy parkway and a quiet brownstone block, I might as well be moving to a new neighborhood!
So I am eager to hear more about that exact block....

So you want, like, names and addresses? And to know of any cute, single folks live on the block?

Ha - I may have to! hadn't thought about that...
Just curious about 'quality of life' - is it generally quiet? is it generally safe? Are there roving packs of wild dogs? Sounds like I have nothing to worry about.

i live on this block, up near washington. ive been here for three years and have never had any trouble. i have ome great neighbors, too. i love it here and dont plan on ever leaving!
sometimes the traffic gets a little fast, headed up to washington, but its not a big problem, really. its that way on pretty much every nearby street anyway.
i live on the block-more towards underhill than washington--i find it is very quiet, especially compared to when i was on st. johns by washington, though i will note that my apartment is in the back of the building as opposed to the front, but i don't get the impression there is much street noise
i occasionally hear a baby cry or a couple of guys who seem to yell at each other about once a week around 10:30 am, but typically it is quiet enough to hear the birds outside
