Strange, as they were bought out not that long ago... I've been there a couple times in the last month (they have matinees!) and it's noticeably cleaner than before the change in ownership. _________________ ...not that there's anything wrong with that.

a couple of those theaters on the ground floor are small as my living room.
teeny tiny.
i always feel like asking for part of my money back after seeing a movie on that teeny screen
and their snack counter choices bites. i always try and sneak in a treat from connecticut muffin. or sometimes eat at their 2nd floor restaurant.
it's not a bad place
it's aight..
otherwise BAM is my favorite theater

But the big dorky question in my life (as it pertains to this subject) is, where can I see A Prairie Home Companion, and who's comin' along?!

In 1996 the day the pavilion opened I began working the concession stand. Thru my time there I was grossed out on multiple occasions. The manager at the time demanded the popcorn left over at night be re-used by mixing it with fresh popcorn in the morning. For some reason unknown to me their were pigeons living in the stock room. Ask yourself this: If you were the manager and you found small holes bitten in to a sack of popcorn seeds, would you throw out the whole sack? The first time I met the exterminator I was glad when he left the theatre empty handed, until the next time he showed up and removed a garbage bag filled with dead rodents. Believe me their are worse things to worry about than small screens at the pavilion.

The shit hole that you refer to is now an American Apparel, we're talking about the place on PPW. _________________ ...not that there's anything wrong with that.

I took in a movie on the ground floor a few months ago, and never went back. Instead, I take the F to Court Street and go to the movies there.

wow, is it really that bad? I saw Xmen there this weekend (which sucked, but not the movie theatre's fault) and I agree, some of the screens are small, but it did not seem dirtier than any other feet-sticking-to-floor theatre I've been to.
As for the candy selection, it does suck, but you're a sucker if you buy it anyway, just go to the bodega near CT Muffin and get your candy and pay 1/4 the price.
As for the popcorn, most theatres I know of mix old and fresh together. The Pavilian's pop corn does suck. I actually know people who pop their own and bring it in, but that's too much planning ahead for me. I grab a soda, some twizlers, sweedish fish and m&ms at the bodega and sneak them in. They pop corn is WAY bad for you anyway.
Oh and MI:3 also sucked. Why do I go to these movies!?!

The popcorn is worse from you than soda, twizlers, swedish fish and m&ms?

Haha I thought someone might poin that out, but actually (not saying the candy is good for you, cause it's not) a small bag of popcorn has as much fat as a Big Mac extra value meal, not to metion the calories. The candy is bad for you, but the pop corn is way bad. lesser of two evils? Maybe I'm just trying to justify my sweet tooth.

I consider having plenty of fat in the diet to be a good thing. And loads of refined sugar to be a bad thing. So I'm gonna go with the popcorn

the folks that used to own the flatbush theatre own (owned?) the PPW one. the whole rational for closing the flatbush one was that it was competing with this one....
i agree on the slight uptick in cleaniness..... but court st is a better deal (just as small but cleaner by a mile. the staff is super crabby but $5 movies on tuesday nights? awesome).

Is that restaurant still in there? I waitressed there for about a week when it first opened and the woman running it was a complete coke head. If memory serves, she was the girlfriend of the owner. What a mess.

No, it's long gone. Too bad, it was kind of a nice space as I recall.

He would splice single frames from pornos into the movies that they played... None of the moviegoers ever noticed, but they'd take it in subconsciously and a little disturbing feeling would nag at them for the rest of the night...
Oh wait... that was something different.

when we conversed he usually ended up making some sexual comment.
he also knocked up the ticketbooth girl who just happened to be 10 years younger.

Not that I am so lucky, but I thought 17 was legal consent age in NYC? Or is it 18? Some states its 16. Anyway, I see nothing wrong with sex at 17. If she was 15 that'd be a different story!

Ah, well...legal and right ain't always the same thing. Plus he knocked her up, which if you ask me takes it to a whole other level.
