I got home around 11 last Thursday to find a homeless looking lady hanging out on the stairs right outside my apartment. She had about 5 shopping bags with her and had all sorts of stuff all over the stairs including a social security card. I asked her what was going on and and to leave and she said she was here to pick up cans from my neighbor. I walked my dog for about 20 minutes and when I got back she obviously was still there. I reminded her again to leave but left it at that since I wanted to go to bed and prayed she would not still be there in the AM. The next morning she was gone.

Today I spoke to one of my neighbors who lives in the building next door and he had a stack of mail for people in my building and other buildings in the neighborhood. He found her in the basement area of his building with her bags of stolen mail.

I am on St Marks by Washington, but apparently she had mail from buildings by Nostrand too. This lady was polite, but appeared a bit off, probably in 40s and African American. Be on the lookout if you see something that doesn't seem right. Don't buzz people in if you are not expecting anyone.

Noticed some work being done today, pretty far along and not sure I've seen it mentioned here. Space has kitchen equipment set up and some high tables with chairs. It did not seem like a big space. Maybe a lunch spot of some sort? This is next to Niahmah and across from BK Scoop.

      Hi there,

Charlie, our 5-year old light-gray tuxedo cat (white belly), is missing. Here's a link to his photo:

      https://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByE4sVOumpMBZ2x5eXNLVUZZSTQ/edit?usp=sharing

Charlie is a timid guy so he may run if you approach him. But if you spot him please call me (212-203-3414) or my wife Andrea (530-574-2559).

      Thank you.

      Julien

For those that know what I'm referring to the people that lived in the trailer under the BQE for the last 5, maybe 6, years are gone.

They had become such a part of the scenery that I had to do a triple take to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me when I didn't see the van & trailer parked in their usual spot.

Anyone notice that all the puddles (at least the ones around Washington & St Marks) from this morning's rain are ringed with yellow dust?

I noticed it on the street this morning, then realized it's also on the roofs and in backyards.

Maybe pollen? But it seems pretty prevalent - and I've never noticed it before.

      Pics to follow.

I'm selling an absolutely stunning antique French poster that is too big for us!
It's about five and a half feet tall and three and a half feet wide. It's a
lithograph by Claude Marquis, and it depicts dancer Pierre Berezzi. With the
frame, it's worth about $2000, but there are a few nicks in the frame and we are
selling for $1000. Pickup in South Slope. I'm happy to supply photos and more
information, of course -- just email me at brooklyn.twinkle@gmail.com .

I drove past the former Starlight Lounge this morning and noticed a new cheesy awning for a Deli/Bodega. I am very disappointed that a bodega is going in that corner. These types of businesses usually attracts lots of loitering which leads to other things. Ugh!! SMH!

Our six-year-old cat is seeking a loving new home.

He is healthy, hearty, and an amazing mouser (despite his sweet nature, he is no friend to mice!). He's super affectionate and friendly. He has been neutered. He's remarkably gentle with people of all ages. Unfortunately, he needs a new home, due to an upcoming change in his family's living situation.

If you or someone you know would like to welcome a very special cat into your home, please email me at brooklyn.twinkle@gmail.com . I'll be happy to supply photos, more information, and arrange an introduction (he is currently living in South Park Slope).

I found an apartment on the cross streets of decatur st and malcolm x blvd near the utica ave A, C train stop. I really like the apartment but do not know much about brooklyn and was wondering if this area in bed stuy is safe? A bunch of people I know have said bed stuy isn't safe, but they don't live there and I was wondering if anyone on here actually knows the area well to give proper advice. I have gone to the area and it looked good as far as I dont go looking for trouble but I also checked crime tracking sites and it looks like there is a lot of violence around that area. I work in the city and don't mind the commute, however I work late nights some times and could be heading home say around 8pm on any given day and I am a young female whom will be living alone. The apartment looks great and has a security system but I am more concerned with the subway in the area at night and the 15 min walk from the subway to the apartment. Thanks for your advise in advance

I passed by the shuttered Almondine on 9th St. and it looks like Valley Shepard is looking to get a license for alcohol in that space.
