Recycling batteries?

I have got a 4-year-old stack of batteries on top of the refrigerator. Is there a place in the neighborhood that will take them?

I'd like to know the same thing. I just wind up bringing mine to Delaware every once in a while....

Well, could they make it any more convenient?

Brooklyn: Bay 41st Street and Gravesend Bay, south of South Shore Parkway (adjacent to the DSNY Brooklyn 11 garage)

I believe one of the block associations organizes a battery pickup in the spring--I'll have to dig further.
