MARRY YOUR BABY DADDY DAY — Brooklynian

MARRY YOUR BABY DADDY DAY

From Only the Blog Knows Brooklyn:

MARRY YOUR BABY'S DADDY DAY/ Ten couples tied the knot Thursday afternoon as part of Marry Your Baby's Daddy Day at the House of the Lord Church in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. The organizer of the mass marriage and author of the book "Marry Your Baby Daddy" says the idea is to promote families in the black community. “I hope the photos of these 10 couples go across the country and motivate other couples, other families from all backgrounds to get married, make a commitment to your family and your children,” said author Maryann Reid. “I really feel that in our community our children are being raised in homes that are broken, and we need to change that and it can start with us today.”

I think it's actually called "Marry Your Baby Daddy Day" if you go by this Daily News article: http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/268581p-230021c.html

"The Rev. Herbert Daughtry has agreed to officiate the ceremony in Brooklyn's House of the Lord church on Sept. 29."

You know that Freddy's article where the NY Times said that Freddy's was in Cobble Hill?

Rev. Daughtry's 'House of the Lord' church is located on Atlantic Avenue (bet. Nevins & Bond) in... *DRUMROLL* Boerum Hill.
  • I'm going to a reception at Dante's in Jackson Heights for one of the couples this evening. An old coworker of mine - I can't wait, I've been promised it will be ghetto fabulous.
