SEEKING Development Senior Coordinator- StoryCorps
StoryCorps and its parent organization, Sound Portraits Productions, are looking for a full-time Development Senior Coordinator to work in their offices in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. StoryCorps is a widely acclaimed national oral history project that celebrates our shared humanity and collective identity. Created by the award-winning non-profit documentary company Sound Portraits Productions, StoryCorps is the largest oral history project ever undertaken.
Description
The Development Senior Coordinator is primarily responsible for management of all individual giving programs. This position will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all existing grant contacts through timely submission of all necessary reporting, and for tracking department's progress on all contributed revenue goals. The Senior Coordinator will also research new source of institutional funding and write and submit relevant grant applications.
The Senior Coordinator reports directly to the Development Manager and provides direction to a full-time Development Coordinator, as well as an Alumni consultant and a part-time intern working within the Development Department.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for all facets of the membership program (particularly the newly launched StoryCorps Alumni Program) including strategy, solicitation, administration, reporting, and relationship management.
Coordinate all donor stewardship, including participant donation acknowledgements, direct mail program, and print and online communications to Alumni.
Manage vendor relationship related to printing and design of all donor communications and solicitations.
Manage donor database and all related activity, including updating addresses, further developing mailing list, entering and tracking donations, and generating reports.
Track approved and pending income in all sectors in order to aid reporting on progress toward all department goals.
Ensure timely reporting on all grant deliverables and work closely with Controller to call in outstanding grant payments.
Write grant reports, presentations, annual appeal letters, and other communications/fundraising pieces as needed.
Research new funding opportunities and develop grant proposals for both general operating and program support.
Qualifications:
* 2-3 years demonstrated experience working in development
* Excellent communication skills—particularly strong writing skills
* Extraordinary attention to detail
* Strong time-management skills
* Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, FileMaker Pro); experience with fundraising databases preferred
* Prior experience with individual giving
* Flexibility and the ability to work as part of a fast-growing team
Salary: Upper 30Ks, commensurate with experience
