A little about my education and experience:

Education
I am in my second year as a PhD. student at CUNY-Graduate Center. I expect to earn my degree in English in 2010.
My previous educational experience:
B.A. Kenyon College, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, highest honors in English, graduated 2000
M.A. University of Chicago, humanities and literature, graduated 2005

Employment
This fall will be my third semester as a professor of composition at New York City College of Technology.
In the past, I have held these relevant positions:
-Teacher at a Montessori kindergarten (2005-2006)
-Research assistant for a University of Chicago literature professor (2004-2005)
-In-house editor for an independent publisher of children's non-fiction books (2000-2003)
-Freelance writer of 22 non-fiction children's books (covering a variety of subjects--the natural sciences, American history, career counselling, literary history, and so on) (2000-2006)
-Freelance editor of magazines, books, and miscellaneous copy (2000-2006)

Extracurricular Activities
I have been a Girl Scout troop leader in Manhattan's Chinatown for five of the past seven years, and I am the adoring aunt of two precocious four-year-old girls.

I have extensive academic and professional experience--and a genuine intellectual interest--in literature (and reading skills), history, science, and the visual arts. I also have a flexible schedule, and I am willing to meet your son or daughter in your home, in my home, or at a convenient public place. My hourly rate is $45.

Thank you,
Gillian
