Eater PSA: Brooklyn Bartenders Beware
Friday, October 5, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It seems 3 Brooklyn neighborhood bars have been robbed at gunpoint in the last month and, warning to Brooklyn bartenders, the robbers are as yet not apprehended. Seems it's not just the hipsters you have to worry about. We pass along the following email, received at Eater HQ late yesterday, because we care, people. Don't ever say we don't:

As some of you may know, 3 Brooklyn neighborhood bars have been robbed at gunpoint in the last month: Bait and Tackle, Floyd, and yesterday Moonshine.
Similar situation all 3 times: two latino guys, early 20's, average height/weight. The first guy (teardrop tattoo below left eye, neck tattoo) comes in Sunday afternoon between noon and four, asks to use the bathroom, and leaves. A few minutes later, he and his ski mask-wearing friend come in, scare the shit out of the bartender and rob the place at gunpoint.

I'll save you all the gory details, but suffice to say it is unpleasant, and I'd rather not have to hear about one of my friends going through this next. The cops, as usual, don't seem to be breaking a sweat to keep this from happening again. This Sunday we captured the entire robbery on video camera, as well as the license plate of the SUV they were driving, and still no concrete leads and no arrests.

Hopefully I will soon have fliers with a still image of the unmasked guy's face on them, but until then, you can help by spreading the word to all the Brooklyn bartenders/bargoers you know.
UPDATE: the guy with the teardrop tat was arrested -- after returning to one of the bars as a customer.
