New Businesses in PH
I, for one, am really glad that there are so many new businesses in the area. I've been on Sterling btwn Wash. & Under. since 02/92 (no attitude implied) and the only locals I'd frequent were Tom's, a long gone grocery (where Thriftway Pharmacy is now), the hardware store also on Wash., & the Bodegas on either corner of my block. The first four years I lived hear I worked in Park Slope, so I did the majority of my shopping there. I'm so happy that most of my shopping & dining can now be done in a two - three block radius!

Actually, I disagree with you. I've been here 6 months, and I really wish there were fewer places to shop for groceries or to pick up hardware. It would be really great if they cancelled the B, Q, 2, and 3 trains all week long, instead of just weekends, forcing me to hike to midtown Manhattan whenever I needed to pick up a screwdriver or a loaf of bread.
In fact, I really wish the block I live on was surrounded by rabid animals who battled out on the streets every day and every night. The corpses would be unfit for consumption, and I would have to wear thick, leather chaps to prevent the animals from biting into my flesh and infecting me with their blood and saliva borne diseases.
The sidewalks would be littered with the tattered remains of strollers, the babies abandoned by parents fleeing to Park Slope. Some of the unlucky parents would be mangled by speeding buses and dollar vans coursing down the length of Flatbush Avenues.
Tom's Restaurant would be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but they would only serve you reheated portions of your own body. But at this point, everyone in PH would be starving, so they would gladly have Gus delicately remove unneeded arms and legs for the proper nourishment needed to get through a day of battling rabid animals. Limbless torsos would be a common sight, before being used as traps for the animals.
Vanderbilt Avenue would be glistening and red with the blood of sinners and innocents alike, and the blood would flow into the Atlantic Yards, creating a new mode of transportation via canal. Skinrafts would gently glide down the red river to various locations in Queens and Long Island. A cool zephyr would propel sailboats across a crimson sea of death and destruction.
So yes, I disagree. -

What, you don't have a bike? You've not seen our rats, squirrels, mice & raccoons? You've not been here after a rain/ wind storm? I'm happy to have access to Tom's whenever Gus decides to be open. And, I think you are confusing us with the hoods bordering the Gowanus. -

The no Sundays is a religious thing. I don't know about dinner.
Howdy, Stranger!
