Soccer in Park Slope?

My wife and I are moving to Park Slope this summer, and was curious if there are any soccer leagues in the area. I haven't seen any fields in Prospect Park, but I'm sure I could have missed something.

thanks.

  • Soccer fields are at the parade grounds on the northeast side of the park. There are some adult league that play there, but I'm not sure how to reach them. Try the city's parks and rec dept website I think they have a list of leagues that play there.
  • Also there is AYSO, which plays at Packer in the Heights.
  • Subject: PPPS

Check out Prospect Park Pick-up Soccer: http://pickupsoccer.meetup.com/123/, as well as http://groups.google.com/group/soccer-nyc for local games.

    Cheers,
    Michele
  • My husband plays almost every Sunday. He's not in any kind of league, but about 20 guys show up every week to play casually. Try heading there on Sunday's between 2-4 and I'm sure you'll see people playing and just jump in! That's what he did...
  • there are leagues you can join but you can also hit up the park any saturday and sunday and you'll find a few pick up games going on. when the weather gets warmer you can also find people after work gather for a quick game before dark.

the pick-up games are fun and i'd def recommend them (sometimes they get too crowded though) but they all have different experience levels so you can walk around until you find one that seems like a match.

all you have to do is walk up to the game and ask if they need any players - 9 times out of 10 they'll say yes....
