Easiest Way To Get From Park Slope > Williamsburg By Subw

I have a concert to go to tonight and I've never traveled to Williamsburg from my apt in Park Slope. On Hopstop it is telling me it will take an hour by going into NYC (14th St) and then taking a subway back into Brooklyn.

Anyone know of an easier way?

  • that's pretty much the way to go by subway. the only less tedious method is a car service.
  • Eastern Car Service will take you there for $15.

You can either do the R-N-L switcharoo or take the F to the G train.
  • I've occasionally wondered if it was better to take a bus and then walk, but haven't bothered to hopstop it . . .

it's actually slower. Can't remember the bus route, but it goes from Grand Army Plaza down Washington, then you have to change under the BQE.

Q to Canal st, then change to the JMZ to Marcy Ave for the south end, or F/G for the northside. Takes half and hour, max.
  • Q from 7th Avenue/Flatbush to 14th, then the L takes a half hour.

That's assuming you are anywhere near the 7th Ave Q station.
  • Everyone I know just takes the G (F to Carrol and switch). Took me 30min to get to Warsaw for a show last time I went. I guess that won't work if the G isn't running, but its been good to me the times I've needed it.
  • The bus routes to get up there would take forever. I tried so many different ways of getting to and from there and Wburg. I used to just accept the R-N-L super dooper switcheroo but then got curious and tried taking the R to Lawrence then hopping on the 61 bus that goes up Jay St. It wasn't too bad if you're lucky with timing the train and the bus. After I started hanging in Greenpoint more I started doing the F to G and that was my favorite way to go. The G is one spotty bastard, but once it's there you're on your way nicely.
  • F to the G
  • I like to take the R to Pacific and get out and walk to Fulton St. on the G. Another option is to walk from DeKalb Avenue to the Bond St. entrance of Hoyt/Schermerhorn station. Using this method (from Prospect Ave) I can usually pull off a 45 min. door to door trip.

Of course, if I see an N train (or sense that one is about to arrive), I'll just get on it and switch at Union Square.

How about the 8th Avenue bus (B69) to Lafayette Avenue, walk over to the Clinton-Washington G stop? The B69 is on a pretty tight schedule. I wouldn't do this on the way home; the thing rarely comes at night.
  • G Train - the only way to go. Get off at Metropolitan Ave stop.

20 minutes, once the G Train comes.

You could also take the M Train from Atlantic Avenue during certain hours. Check for the times it runs.

Agreed. This is the fastest way via subway.
  • Rumor has it that the G will extend into 7th Ave soon :D
  • i sure hope G gets extended to 7th avenue

i work in east williamsburg, and im commuting from park slope. usually i take the F-G-L combination to work, that's the fastest. i either change to G at carroll or bergen on winter, or smith-9 on summer. i never really had any problem with G, it comes pretty frequent (maybe because it's rush hour), and not as crowded as F, i actually like G. it takes me about 45 mins to work, or almost an hour door to door.
  • That might be because they are shutting down Smith St for a year. Might be just extending it a couple of stops doesn't impact the timing much.

  • There is another silver lining: The G will be extended to Church Avenue throughout the project, and one express track will be rehabilitated — potentially opening the door to a permanent F express in years to come.
