There is very little I would consider to be bona-fide Irish about Farrell's. I am proud to say I am a Mick, and I HATE that place. But truthfully, Flexi, that's my fear, too!!
  • that's why "Irish bar" is in quotes ;-)

I didn't know where Circles began and Windsor Chophouse ended but I liked going there. I found the bar really comfortable and the food decent. Not the best - but I didn't expect it to be. It was a bar with food.
And better food than some bars that just have wings and stuff.

i'm sorry to see it go!

Was going there this evening for a drink and found it closed. Thanks for the heads up.

If someone can give an exact date.. go ahead... but the Chop place has been there for about 3 years. No doubt the association with Circles has a heavy cross to take on but this really was a lovely, quiet, service oriented good food place.

Well.. let's see what happens now!!

Circles opened in 1985,prior to that it was the Park House and before that It was Lewenes.
  • Two Boots, on 2nd Street near 7th Avenue, was previously Circles.
  • I read an article yesterday (maybe in the Times? I can't remember) that Mooney's is in danger of closing because of rent increases.

A restaurant should do a great business where Circles is, because of the location next to the movie theater and the park. But it needs to be a decent restaurant to do so. It would be a great place to meet friends before heading to a concert in the park or grabbing dinner after a movie.
