  • German, French, Dutch. I found a Dutch book on my street a few months ago, and I want to know who it belonged to!!
  • Spanish
  • The guys at The Usual, Mike and John, both speak an advanced form of Pig-Latin.
  • にほんご
  • My husband and son both speak Spanish (I can only curse in Spanish). I might be able to have a conversation in Spanish or French. More like Spanglish or Frenglish

    Ditto!
  • I speak Slovenian, some SerboCroat and German. I learned Slovene for my grad work and Serbo-Croat is a stretch. Many of the words are the same as Slovene, but the grammar is night and day. So I can say "Eno pivo, molim" when in Zagreb, but I can't say "Dosti. Pijan sem" -- 'Enough. I'm drunk."
  • DA LI TI ZNAÅ  ZA NEKI DRUGI RITAM?

hey, latin is a dead, unspoken language!
    that's totally badass.
  • I can get by in Hungarian as long as I'm drinking, and I can get by with my French as long as I'm with Africans. I was working on learning the Guinean version of Fulani, but all I can do now is say the 9 ways of saying "how are you?"

One of the major languages of PHeights is Haitian Creol, and there are also a bunch of Nigerian hangouts.

Yo. I haven't forgotten about our paper idea. I am swamped with work, but it is on my radar.

Ampak, jaz ne razumem <<riti>>. Mislim da, recite srpsko.
  • French and Spanish (both extremely poorly, although I read better than I speak).
  • je ne parle pas pomme de terre.

    I do not speak potato???

    :lol::lol::lol:
  • I speak spanish fluently and I'm decent with German but could be a lot better if I'd invest in a book or tape.

WOW!!! Great that you wanted to learn to speak Fulani!! I speak the Senegalese version and can certainly converse with anyone who speaks the Guinean version. You totally made my day! :D
  • I speak/read Spanish and Spanglish. I can also get by reading simple Catalan.
  • So who here speaks Klingon? I've seen you guys, and I know someone here must!

Is there a word in Klingon for loneliness? [looks it up in a little book] Ah, yes: Gar-dacchk!

    Ah, Comic Book Guy...

But seriously, if you're interested in learning it, check this out:

    The Klingon Language Institute!
  • [ignoring the Klingon thang]

I speak German and French and teeny bit of Italian. But, I was able to pick up a little Croatian when I was visiting Zagreb and Split. Just phrases to get around, no understanding of the grammar. I'd love to learn Serbo-Croatian!

I thought you just pretend to speak German... :P

  • I can speak a pretty mean JA-FAKIN' (Jamaican patois spoken by a non Yardie)!!

I can understand it quite fluently as well, whether I hear it at home in Brooklyn or in Jamaica ("Yard", not Queens) :D
  • I speak Spanish pretty every day at work and, strangely, can often understand French. I'm unable to respond to anything I hear in French, but I can often follow conversations quite well.

I haven't tried to read anything in another language in years.

I've always wanted to learn German, but never got around to it.
