A few weeks ago it was all covered up with wood that had dancing coffee cups on it and said something like "coming soon: brooklyn bagels" (or brooklyn coffee, i forget). But it's been in its current state for a week or two. So my guess is that it's either stalled or going to open up any day now.

'Shack said they were doing a 24 hour diner (or something) about a year ago...when the dancing coffee cups mural appeared across the street, I figured that was theirs. Especially since the mural was by a dyke artist.

Anyway, I hope they are -- that Brownstone Bagel place on the corner of 4th and Union SUCKS. The bagels are mediocre, and they charge a dollar extra for scallions in the cream cheese. That is just wrong. They also use cheap tuna and say it's the good Italian stuff so they can price it high. I hate them.
I don't hate Park Slope , but I hate these interloping business that pass off mediocre crap at high prices.

bagel = $.85
bagel w/cream cheese = $1.85
bagel w/scallion cream cheese = $2.85
