DOGS in the PARK
I am new to the neighborhood (and love it btw).
As I was running in the park...I noticed something that shocked me.
There were at least 100 dogs running around on the great lawn. As a former upperwestsider, I remembered that there were separate places for dogs and kids to play.
As a father of 3, it disturbs me that my children will have to play where dogs have been relieving themselves.
Are there rules for when dogs "cant" play in that area? Is this a seasonal thing?

See the recent thread: http://www.brooklynian.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=41162
While not precisely the same issue, it is quite close.
Unless, of course, you are another Gawker plant... -
Are you kidding me? Did you really come on this forum and make your first post without checking to see if this topic may have been discussed a couple hundred times already? Are you kidding me

The issue of dog, squirrel and rat pee in the park is the same whether the dogs are leashed or not, a fact that should be taken into account by parents of small children, and gatherers of wild greens.

I piss on the great lawn all the time. I encourage my kids to also. Urine is sterile, feel free to roll around in it.

Ooh, good first try at a "controversial" troll! You score points by being "new to the neighborhood" and referring to dogs, which really pulls in readers. Unfortunately, you forgot to include vaguely insulting remarks about race and possibly sexual orientation. Also, it would help to dis everything our local culture holds dear, and allude to your role in gentrification. Try something more like this:

I am new to the neighborhood (I just bought a PPW brownstone, thanks to my generous bonus from my investment banking job).

I have noticed that it's mostly Mexicans and blacks who let their dogs run around. Oh, and lesbians too.
Hopefully the new Atlantic Yards development will benefit the whole neighborhood by driving off this riff-raff! -

Brooke, that was great
