Stories about Jeff is nothing new. He was everyware and owned almost everything. My expirences with him were not good. He was nice enough wen I rented a store from him, but as soon as we had some financial trouble and couldnt pay rent, he was all over us. He sent big Italian thugs into my store to harass us. Twice a week he would show up and try to get his rent. One day he actually went to my register, and took out the $60.00 that was there. His goons told me to shut up and pay up. He bribed a marshall to come and evict me. I lost everything I had because of Mr. Jeff. I hate his guts. He is a zillionair, but throwed me out of business for a few bucks. He is the picture of greed. STAY AWAY FROM HIM.

I heard that Jeff took on new partners. An Obama look alike named David. He is the new face of the Cardinal empire that has ruled the neghborhood for generations. Even though he is a brother, I expect more of the sameo sameo. Be advised that he probably has the mob power that Jeff has, so don't mess with him.

I know that David is buying some of Jeff's buildings. I'm not sure that makes him a partner. I do know that he grew up in Crown Heights and that he and his family still live here, unlike Jeff who's been living in Deer Park Long Island for years. And of course he's a brother. He's a sharp guy in my opinion, a definite change from Jeff in that regard but he's still a businessman.

This David is not to be confused with David Seats, the operator of Tavern on Nostrand and several valiant but failed efforts in the community. This David is too acute to spend money in the lavish but ultimately futile ways of Seats. While I would laud David Seats for his idealism, in the final analysis, successful businesses have to have a vision but need to be practical as well. Perhaps the new David can provide both.

Mr. Jeff gave my sister a place to live. She couldnt afford the posted rent so jeff lowered it for her. David Boden threw her out as soon as he bought her buildidn on Sterling. Mr. Jeff was what he was- a businessman who didnt take any crap from anyone, including the drug dealers and the other bosses around nostrand, but we knew what we were dealing with. He helped you until you crossed him. That is why nobody crosses him. David on the other hand is a trogen horse. He comes on like a community leader and compasion person, but he will throw a poor black woman on the streets if he needs to. Jeff only wanted his rent- david wants something else.

Hay, I googled Nostrand and Park and found this blog. I used to have a store over there, and of course rented from Jeff. He was fair, but when I couldnt pay rent as I had a business downturn, he had no mercy. Did he scare me? you bet your ass he did. People that crossed him had a habit of dissapearing from the neighborhood. At the time I dispised him for throwing me out, but now as I have built up another business and have become a landlord myself, I have new respect for how he ran things. I do not know who David is and dont care.

Is he tough? yes, because he had to be as a white guy in a black hood had to be, in fact if he were black, he still would have to be tough to acomplish what he had to do and survive all these years. it is funny that so many people live here, yet it is still a small town. I guess when you blog about someone within a few blocks, every body knows everyone. I can see how people from the same building talk about the same thing. I know that exporter is sabastion, who had the barrel store on nostrand and park. I know that Dom perringnon is mr. Julian prince. I know that David b is probably the guy that bought some of mr. Jeffo properties. I know that captain planet is mr. Todd the old white dude that used to ride his bike and is a uncessfull real estate broker. I could go on and on. We all grew ip with mr. Jeff running the place and he was always respectfull of everyone. Is he this tough guy? Probably, but I never crossed him and he never crossed me. He always said hellos to who ever he saw. Anyway that is enough of this topic.

Umm.. wasn't the original point of this thread about whether or not to rent on Nostrand?

Nostrand is probably one of the safer streets to live on because it's busier than surrounding blocks, and it's probably safer closer to Eastern Parkway than further up north because of all the activity. On the downside, it's probably not all that quiet, either.

And as far as all the claims of wifi-hopping go, I's wanting some wifi. I don't got any. I can't even get my personal network to work. Ah well.

Maybe someone who lives closer to Fulton can comment on this, but I've found that area on Nostrand to be just as busy as around Eastern (if not more so) at all strange times. Not that I frequent that area in strange times, but I was traveling by air a lot on red eyes and whatnot for awhile, so I had opportunity to get on/off the A there from/to JFK in the late night/early morning.

I totally agree with you daver. I live near the Eastern Parkway end, which is busy, but gets fairly chill as you get into the wee hours of the night. Whenever I've gotten off the A (my roomate does it ALL the time late at night) there always seems to be some kinda activity, people out and about and such.

nostand between park and eastern is very safe. and again we are back to mr. Jeff. It is safe because he keeps the dealers in check. they know not to mess with any of Mr. Jeffs tenents. They do not wan any trouble with him, so they go about their business quietly. almost anyone who lives in that area is or was mr. jeffs tenant. Jeff and big al tried for years to have a big police presents in the area. they finally suceeded. nostrand is great. its is friendly and safe.
