Opposite Side Parking
The opposite side parking on my street is in effect on Thursdays and Fridays. Can anyone tell me why the last 2 mornings no one has moved their car? I own a car...trying to sell it, actually, and I have been dutifully moving it to the opposite side along with all of the other car owners each Thurs/Fri, but this morning no one moved! Is the rule only in effect part of the time?
I am, clearly, new to the area and I was wondering if I missing something about this. Any insight is appreciated.
Thx

Banned for incorrectly referring to alternate side parking as opposite side parking.
Er, sorry, wrong thread.
Alternate side parking is suspended for religious observance currently, you heathen. You still have to feed the meter though.

ok i loled at that. -
You know, Brooklyn and God have a lot in common. Only the dead truly know either of them.

When I think of Brooklyn and God, well, togetherlike, I think of that motorhome blasting the Jewish tunes or whatever. They have their speakers on the outside. Isn't that like wearing your underwear on the outside? How do they get away with that? I've seen/heard it a lot on Eastern lately. They must be cruising for chicks or something.

You can call 311 for alternate-side information.

Yes, there are days where there is no alternate side parking due to various holidays. you should call 311 and ask for a listing of them.

Ah, the Mitzvah Tank. Its a Brooklyn institution, kind of like the Dodgers (except no one is attempting to steal it away in the middle of the night and take it to LA).
One of the cool things about NYC is you get all kinds of alternate side holidays for religious holy days you've never even heard of. -

It is fucking Good Friday. For christ's sake.

I wasn't refering to today, rather days like the Solemnity of Assension, the Feast of Assumption, Shemini Atzereth, Idul-Fitr, Idul-Adha, etc.

It's also Purim. Er, definitely NOT for christ's sake. -

Well, this is just the warm up good friday anyhow. We get to do another one next month in case anyone screws anything up. -

Sign up for the e-mail (on the above website) as well, until you get rid of the car. That way you will know at least a day in advance.
