Found a bullet...
...picked it up. All day long I had good luck!
Well, not really.
But I did see what is presumably a live bullet sitting on the sidewalk leaving the apartment. Visions of kidlets whacking it with a rock went dancing through my head, so I picked it up. But then it occurred to me, what do I do with it? It was early, so I saw no police officers to ask. Also, I'm not sure if I ought be whipping out a bullet and asking them what to do with it. I don't want to toss it in the trash, because doesn't that go through the crusher? I mean, it is pretty unlikely to get set off. But still. It just seems like a bad idea.
Anyway.
So where do I safely dispose of an unwanted bullet that isn't mine anyhow? Without getting in trouble. Damn it. Maybe I should have just kicked it into the curb. Arg.

Just take it to the police station...you are not going to get in trouble.

Dont worry about bullets. Just throw them in the trash. they will laugh at you if you take it to the preceint. My father is a cop and there were always spare bullets laying around the house and in the drawers (not the safest environment i know) Whenever he or I cleaned up we would just chuck them in the trash. A compactor will not set them off.
On a side note, one time I came across a few neighborhood kids throwing bullets in the air trying to get them to land on the street and go off. They said they were there for a half hour with no luck. luckily for them, It takes a sharp blow isolated on the primer to get them to go. Needless to say I tried to get them to hand them over.... -
Can I have it? I like to collect weird shit like that to use in collage work.

call the cops from the safety of your house. they'll come and pick it up.
i did that with a box of fire works that was left in my garage by a former renter.
they question me for a while about the fire works. trying to get me to say they are mines and i'm trying to sell it. i'm like why the hell would i call you guys if i'm selling them. i would just dump them. i didn't want them to hurt anyone.
