How much does it cost to live here nowadays?

I'm helping my friend move from the Upper East Side to Brooklyn. I'm thinking Sunset Park and around there might be in her price range. However, with the area becoming more and more hip I'm guessing rents are going up.

So, how much does it cost to live in this general area? How much are 1 br & studios renting for?

Random question, if you were to move out of this area... where in Brooklyn would you like to live and could afford to live?

i was lucky and bought my place before the market went kerflooey, and i say that because i LOVE living in south slope but wouldn't be able to afford the prices if i moved in now. if i had to choose another neighborhood, i think it would be Fort Greene.

I moved last year into a small studio/jr. 1 and got a good deal. I think rents have increased since then, but are still considerably less than Park Slope. I think currently studios/1 bedrooms are about 1100-1300. The neighborhood is absolutely wonderful!
