Court Street Commotion — Brooklynian

Court Street Commotion

Catch this guy, already. He'll be a "Law and Order" show late this season or early next season, for sure!

1010 WINS) (NEW YORK) The hunt for the man who police believe posed as a fake firefighter and assaulted a woman on Halloween night moved Thursday morning to Brooklyn.

A Brooklyn coffee shop owner told police he spotted Peter Braunstein in the Cobble Hill section at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday. That information brought a swarm of police to the neighborhood in what was called it the first credible sighting of the wanted man.

The morning search ended after the search came up empty.

Braunstein is a freelance writer and was a magazine editor. He's been on the run since Halloween when a 34-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in her Chelsea apartment.

Police say the suspect knocked on the woman's door saying there was a fire in the hallway. When she opened the door, the attacker put a cloth with chemical over her face -- knocking her out.

She was then bound with duct tape and repeatedly sexually assaulted over a 12 hour period.
