TURKEY IN MT. PROSPECT PARK
Just back from walking the dog, and something new & different:
A small, female turkey, snoozing peacefully under a park bench. Off to the left-hand side, behind the steps.
Now, I've seen some unusual things in 12 years in NYC, but that was a first. I'm guessing that a local household was raising the creature for next week and she got out, but hey, wild turkeys in Brooklyn? Why not?
Let the naming debates begin.

There used to be a wild turkey in Battery Park City, maybe the rent got too high and she moved to brooklyn.

Maybe it escaped from the zoo?

As a country boy from Virginia, I can tell you that if the turkey is white, then it is domestic. Most likely got loose from someone's houseyard. -

The one in battery park was actually wild, the Times did an article on him (her?) and traced her somehow from upstate somewhere -
How could the paper trace her from upstate? DId they try to interview her? Hehehe.
That poor turkey is going to be dead by Thanksgiving, and on someone's table. -

The first New England turkey shot by a 9mm, I'd wager. -
