20-story tower planned for Lincoln Road near Ocean Avenue
Doesn't this seem a little out of place? Especially in that artists rendering without any of the other buildings around it. You probably won't get park views until at least the 7th or eighth floors.
Well, just when you thought the subways couldn't get any more crowded...

That building would be WAY out of place in that immediate area. Most of the buildings in that immediate vicinity (with the exception of the Ebbets Field Apartments) are not that tall. Plus you have the historic Lefferts Gardens brownstones a few blocks away. That building would tower over everything else on that block.
I grew up in that area. I've noticed that that block (Lincoln Road between Ocean Avenue and Flatbush Avenue) is becoming gentrified, but this project is ridiculous, and way out of scale. Also, the residents are going to be in for a surprise when they discover that they have to travel at least to Atlantic Center to Pathmark for the nearest decent grocery store (Western Beef does not count!). -
There is a good grocery store on parkside and ocean

Make that 24 Storys tall!
Outrageous! -
You see, when it comes to being upset, most people here on this forum are NIMBY. They will protest the hell out of the Ratner Project because it effects their little slice of heaven. They will complain about dog's barking, illegal dumping, street pee-ers, dog poop, etc. if it's IMBY, but if it's NIMBY, they could careless.

MeredithB,
Perhaps you are looking in the wrong place, as there is comparatively little discussion about PLG in this particular forum.
Most of the more active PLG neighborhood online discussions occur via groups such as the far more active Lefferts Yahoo group and blogs like Hawthorne Street.
You will find quite a bit of conversation about this building (both for and against) and various other PLG neighborhood subjects by following the two links above.
Also, are you in the neighborhood over here? If so, hello neighbor!
(and if not, hello neighbor! anyway

The new view of the eastern edge of Prospect Park at Lincoln Road? (Taken from midway between the Concert Grove and the Audubon Center.)

It seems out of scale to me. There isn't anything around there over six stories.
Is there anything new going on with it? The last stuff I heard was in March and they were pretty much nowhere.
Howdy, Stranger!
