Permit For Ball Fields In Prospect Park

I was playing softball in the park last week with some friends and was told by Parks that we were required to have a permit, a permit which we must pay for. Does anyone know the actual legal truth of this.

Parks has info on their web site, but it seems like if people want to play a game and no one has a preexisitng reservation/permit, then we should be free to use the park. I mean that is what it's their for, right?

  • somebody with a permit probably needed the field and rather than approach you directly, contacted the PArks people. Pretty much the entire weekend is taken with organized leagues and longtime choose-ups. Best to try to get into the chooseup games for those with a permit. Of couse if you become a regular they will ask you to contribute to the permit fee
