  • eberri, given your tag line of "Beware Killer Cops.." I'm wondering what sort of positive actions you'll be proposing.
  • agree Limestone. not sure why this is all turning into a mad racial thing because it's not. there was a black and a hispanic cop involved. really tired of the race card being thrown about with respect to this verdict.
  • I don't think the race of the cops matters at all. It's the race of the victims. The point is police officers of all races making assumptions as to the character of a man (or woman) based on what they look like rather than the facts at hand. While I don't think a manslaughter charge was in order, how can you not at least convict the officers of reckless endangerment? 50 shots fired with no return fire? None of the officers were injured at all... How does that happen? Incorrect assumptions, shoddy training, horrible coordination, very little understanding of the communities they serve...and a sense of immunity. All these points can be addressed with positive action.

Do you think in the same exact situation, except that the three young men were white, would the verdict have been the same? Do you think the police would have even approached them in the first place and if so with the same amount of aggression? If you honestly believe that we'll have to agree to disagree.

After Sean Bell, Khiel Coppin, Timothy Stansbury, Patrick Dorismond, Amadou Diallo, Anthony Baez, and others do you not see a pattern? Unlawful shooting with no repercussions for the officers. I know it's tough to stomach but race is real it's not going anywhere.

And where did eberri say anything about race? I don't mind bringing it up though...
  • Yet another case of seeing something too late. How was the discussion? Anything good come out of it?
  • yeah, how was the turnout? wnated to go, never got around to it.
