  • [quote=daver]Geez, y'all are arguing and arguing when you could be posting fat nekkid guys.

    Or hairy guys.

    Whatever.

Anyway, someone secretly sent me a pic of a poster ON THIS THREAD. A secret spy pic! I'll leave it to you to figure out if it is Hamilton, brooktrout, or Obamanut, but it certainly must be ONE of them.

Thats not me ,I don't wear glasses.
  • I'm blind as a bad. You've successfully outted me. Congratulations! I hope you're happy with yourself ;-)
  • Carmen wrote: I didn't know Hamilton had moved into the PS board. I was used to he/she/it on the bed-stuy board...
I'm pretty certain that Hamilton is a HE who, like many people, posts on all of the Brooklyn boards.
  • Daver, no WAY. There is no WAY that that's someone from the board. You are so full of it! (I am laughing btw)
    Ahhhh, deep breathe!

.....I could have sworn Hamilton was a chick.

Actually thats not me, I believe it's brooktrout waiting for the homeless guy to return the suit he borrowed to seek employment.
  • Any updates on Sweat?
I thought I saw him getting loaded into an ambulance on Tuesday.
  • Actually he was getting into the ambulance ,because, he was loaded
  • I went by Windsor tonight while I was waiting for my daughter. I was getting ready to walk in (around 7:00) and they were closing because their computer was down and they can't sell Liquor without it. The owner seems like a nice enough guy but he got a little annoyed with me when I suggested that he should have a backup system. As a computer programmer, it drives me nuts when I can't buy something because the computer system is down.
  • That's silly. I was at my mom's house during a big storm. All of the power was off and the liquor store was using a calculator and an open cash drawer. Business was brisk!

(never mind that when the lights went out I went straight to the booze!)
  • Hey, what else is there to do when the lights go out (besides the obvious)?
  • filmlover44 wrote: Hey, what else is there to do when the lights go out (besides the obvious)?
Um. I was with my mom. I bought a deck of cards and a big bottle of wine.

Are you serious? He told you he was closing because they can't sell liquor without it? I can't tell you how many times our system has done that and we never closed once. We can't take credit cards but we can still take cash without the system. It's very simple. We either write down what the person is buying or save the price tag which has a 5 digit number on it that can serve as a barcode. Then we use a calculator to add the tax (unfortunately I've worked there so long I usually know the tax by heart). Then we ring everything up when the computer is working again. Out of necessity I learned how to deal with our system so if I'm there I can almost always get it back up pretty quickly. I'd love to know what POS software they use. :?

Well it was either that, or he didn't like my looks! I wanted to ask what POS software they used even offer to help, but he shut the door on me in the face of my open mouthed surprise.
  • I've never had any problems with the owner ,he be good to me.

Oy, sounds like a sweetheart! I wonder if it had something to do with the lost art of simple arithmetic. Geez, I'm a cashier and it drives me nuts when I see other cashiers who can't do basic math in their heads. I never type in what customers give me because I don't want to lose that skill. It's gotten to be where I calculate their change automatically without even realizing it. And I can count on one hand the number of times I've gotten it wrong in 7 years. Of course, if you asked me to do Trig I'd run screaming!
  • Nice shot, Hamilton...

True, addition is a lost art! Why in my day we didn't even have calculators (hee, hee)!
  • Oh lookee lookee, there goes the EMS vehicle, carrying off another patron of Windsor Liquors...

I doubt your looks have anything to do with it, I think selling anything above a half pint may have been too much of a mathematical challenge for him.

Hey, I'm such a geek that I had a freaking abacus when I was a kid!

  • One of my neighbors stop in to pick up some refreshments and while being waited on one of the street people started to stagger in , the clerk came from behind the counter and advised him not to enter the store as he couldn't serve him and recommended he would be better off drinking something other then alcohol, with that the person left.

    Looks like the Board works.

  • It looks like the PPW store will be open soon.
  • I was in the 16th Street store on Sunday and the owner said they'll be moving around August - September.
  • Yah, although they are working on it all the time, the "new" store still has a long way to go.

Did he mention what he did with the stained glass sign.

You can't mourn for the good ole days on one thread, and then bemoan what was a big part of the good ole days on another dammit. You can't have your yuppie beer bars and "brooklyn characters" at the same time. Or can you?..... Just like I've said many times, THAT is what makes Brooklyn diverse. All of dem bums. Like me.
I agree 100%. I’ve lived around here my whole life, and the truth is I’ve never seen any of those bums bother anyone ever. If you can’t stand just seeing them on the street, then that’s your problem. If you don't want them in the same neighborhood as you, then you should be the one to leave. They were here first.
  • Just a question.
How do you know if the bums as you called them were here before the posters on this thread.

YankeeFan 'knows' the same way that I 'know.' It's not a difficult judgment call to make.

By the way, just to let you know as I was returning home from running some errands on Ninth Avenue yesterday I noticed one of the bums sitting on the Park Circle bench. He appeared to be napping. Absolutely disgusting, and unacceptable.

    Not in our neighborhood!!!
