Slope Health Fitness on Union Street
The posts on this site about Park Slope Sports Club on Flatbush have been so negative that I've decided to try looking elsewhere for a gym. Is anyone a member of Slope Health & Fitness on Union Street? If so, what do you think of it (Clean? Crowded? Reasonably priced?). It seems kind of small, but hopefully won't have the same problems as pssc? Thanks.

i don't think the posts on PSSC on this board have been negative at all. they've simply pointed out the plusses and minuses of the club, with the plusses far outweighing the minuses.
that being said, i checked out Slope on Union before i joined PSSC. it was absolutely miniscule and wanted to charge rates similar to what PSSC was charging.
i've also heard the NYSC on 9th and 5th is pretty small as well, but i've never been in it. -
Subject: PSSC
PSSC has gotten lots of bad press on this board and for good reason. They are totally overpriced and it is next to IMPOSSIBLE to stop your membership there. It is always crowded and has a not so great vibe as far as I am concerned. I almost always had to wait for any sort of machine. I highly suggest you look for another gym. Just my two cents. Hope it was helpful. -

that's quite the exagerration if you ask me. you rarely wait for a machine, not even during peak hours, unless you have to wait for a certain favorite machine.
i don't quite know what "vibe" the above person is looking for either.
wait......shouldn't i be convincing people NOT to join, so that it doesn't turn into the above? IT SUCKS. DON'T JOIN.

The silver membership or whatever they call it at PSSC works for me- if you go between 9am and 4pm, normal people's working hours, there's like no one there and it's a much cheaper membership. Can't speak for the peak hours, though, and it's a kind of cramped place- I can understand how it might get overcrowded... the machines tend to be way close together and all, but, that said, I've been happy with my experience there so far (though it's only been 2 weeks).
Of course, if I worked normal weekday hours, I might be complaining. -
Subject: I joined
I decided to go ahead and join pssc. I really need to join a gym and the one on 7th & Union is too small and doesn't offer enough of the classes I'd like to take. Thanks for your responses though, hopefully my experience with pssc won't be too bad.
