  • I wonder what happened in Grandma's day when baby carriages were the size of Mini Coopers. Putting two of them side-by-side on a sidewalk sure would have caused a traffic jam. What's the big difference today? I'm sure that in the 1946-66 or so baby boom there was carriage gridlock everywhere ....

    After WW2 there was a mass migration to Long Island ,as Veterans were able to buy houses with no down payments and when the Verrazano Bridge opened in '64 families had the opportunity to purchase homes at reasonable prices and the dream of escaping the streets of Brooklyn.
