Is there any interracial dating going on in CH? — Brooklynian

Is there any interracial dating going on in CH?

I live in Crown Heights and I notice the diversity of the neighborhood. I started to notice that there is no real interaction between the different nationalities. So I started to wonder, are there any interracial couples in CH? And when is the next barcrawl?

  • You are kidding right ? Brooklyn is a haven for interracial dating. Just on my street alone in CH I know of two interracial couples.....
  • Two couples isn't a haven, but I do understand what you mean.
  • I am really suprised you haven't seen more. I personally hang out with a pretty diverse crowd and often date outside of my race... as my friends do too...

Seriously, everyday walking home from the train I see black, white, asian, hispanic, west indian all interacting wether its conversation, friends or couples... etc...
  • I'm in an interracial marriage and there are several other couples on my short block alone.
  • My wife and I are an interracial couple. Of all the neighborhoods we've lived in NYC, the Prospect Heights area has been the most hospitable to us.
  • i can think of 3 off the top of my head... on my building's floor. no interaction??? please. open your eyes.
  • i am in an interracial marriage as well and know about a few more on my block too. I wouldn't say is the "norm", but it's not uncommon.
  • Subject: huh?

I'm also in an interracial marriage, as are many people in Crown Heights (if you buy the B.S. about there being different "races" of humans). Are you living under a rock, dude?
  • I hang out with a pretty diverse crowd as well, when we are out and and about it's like the United Nations in motion. I just don't see it. I'm on Franklin and Eastern Pkwy and there seems to be very little interaction amongst the different races. I will open my eyes. And no, I'm not under a rock.
  • I don't think there is a lot of interaction between newcomers and oldtimers, between economic classes, or between young and old, but all that is different than interracial dating/marriage. I think a most of the couples that make this their home didn't necessarily "meet" here. So you really might be asking a different question.
  • When one drives a (insert make), suddenly the road is filled with them.
    Go for a spin...
  • My wife and I met in Crown Heights and still live here. In fact, when I moved in to my (now our) current apartment in eight years ago (about a year before I my wife), the previous occupants were another interracial married couple. Interracial dating/marriage is all over Crown Heights.
  • Er, make that: "...(about a year before I met my wife)..."
  • > How many would consider it?

I'm white, I have dated an Asian, but I haven't dated a black. No real reason, I suppose. I certainly wouldn't have a problem doing so. My sister married a great guy from Queens who happens to be black, but she hauled him back to AZ.

I really don't even pay attention to it, honestly, but thinking on it I can definitely recall more than a few interracial couples I have seen in the area.
  • I find the term "interracial" soooooooooooooo outdated.

I mean, why don't we bring back words like mulatto and quadroon while we're having the conversation...

    eesh...
  • Multicultural dating?

Although I suppose many could be considered multicultural in and of themselves.

I'm with you...why is this even worth noting at this point?

(ok, back to the stroller fight on another board...)
  • Anyone ever see that website "Black People Love Us"? This conversation is making me think of it for some reason.
  • Is there any interclass dating going on in CH?
  • Yes, I have a master's degree and work a professional job, whereas my wife is a steam pipe fitter. We ge along real well.
