Fitness Collective members

Just curious as to whether anyone's joined the Fifth Avenue Fitness Collective, or is a member at one of the other locations.

My wife and I met with Clavel a few weeks ago. While the price is certainly steep, we felt a few months could really be that missing piece for us in getting into the shape we've always wanted to be in, but seems to elude us. We got a pretty good package and are very much looking forward to it.

I'd love to hear from folks who have seriously considered joining, or are members. No need to hear "it's too expensive" or "why don't you just run in the park?"

  • Hey -- I'm a big fan of the Park Slope Fitness Collective on Seventh Ave. I've taken and taught classes there. The people are all so nice.

Just to be clear: There's no joining or membership. The classes are on a per class basis, with a discount for multiples. And the personal training sessions work similarly -- the more you get, the less per session.

But there's no commitment or membership or obligation. Just you and your fitness goals and people to help you.

  • I guess "joining" is a matter of semantics. We bought a package that'll keep us there for 2-3 months or so. Probably can't afford to do it long-term, but I'm hoping it gets me to a place where I feel like I know what I'm doing more when I go back to Crunch, and puts me in much better shape for both the short and long term.

Good to hear the good words. Thanks.

I realize I am responding months after your original post, but I have been a Fitness Collective member for almost 6 months now, and I can't say enough good things about it. It may not be easy, especially in these economic times, to justify spending money on personal training--FC is not cheap--but can you really put a price on your health and well being? The results you can get, if you really do what they tell you to do, are undeniable--I have never felt better in my life. I have worked out at all three locations, and I can tell you, if you join and really commit to it, for even a few months, it's the kind of experience where you'll soon find yourself gladly giving up other unnecessary things in life to offset the cost of your FC addiction. Think about how much money we all waste every month on overpriced coffee drinks, restaurant meals, clothes we don't need, etc. ...

it's been an amazing experience for me as well. i've dropped over 20 pounds and really have gotten the closest to what i want to look like than ever in my life. there were simple exercises that i was doing wrong my entire life that i now get right. i was suffering from calf cramps that are now gone.....the list goes on and on.

my wife and i are halfway through our second 48-pack, and it'll probably be it for us after that just because of simple costs (except for the six months of classes we got for participating in the Fitness Challenge....I finsihed third at my location!) the money spent at the Fitness Collective was absolutely one of the best investments I've ever made. I'm glad it's worked for you as well.
  • Congratulations on your achievements--that's fantastic! One way I have found to make FC more financially doable--I am signed up for a level two package, so I get a training session once a week, and go to group classes, and it lasts for 3 months. I also have an inexpensive monthly membership at Body Reserve. It adds up to a few hundred dollars a month, which is triple my previous fitness spending, but I keep reviewing my monthly spending to find ways to keep FC in my life--I am hooked. Best wishes to you and your wife.

I've also kept my Crunch membership throughout. It certainly helps.

I get six months of free classes after my sessions because of the Fitness Challenge, so I should be able to keep them around through most of the year. I do think I want to give it a shot on my own for a while, though, and see what happens.
