Best way to get to Jones Beach in PM traffic?

Need to go to Jones Beach tonight: should I take Rt 27 with all its traffic lights to the southern state or take the BQE to the LIE and face heavy traffic?

  • take atlantic ave to conduit ave.
    conduit to the belt east.
    belt to the southern state
    southern state to meadowbrook
    you're there

and there will always be traffic as it's all the lawnguylanders going home.
best of a lot of lousy ways out there.

    or you can take
    eastern parkway to bushwick ave
    bushwick ave to jackie robinson
robinson to grand central to northern state
northern state to meadowbrook or wantagh [yr choice]
    and you're there.

Yeah, that's my problem, tons of different ways, and they are all lousy.

I actually live in WT, so I usually grab the Conduit (Rt 27) from the Prospect Expressway exit. But the Conduit has sooooo many lights and it narrows to one lane at a point.

How packed is the Jackie Robinson at this time?
