MERGED: Sunset Park knitting group — Brooklynian

MERGED: Sunset Park knitting group

Every neighborhood in Brooklyn seems to have its own knitting group--except for ours. I'm relatively new to knitting (since November), but would love to meet other knitters in the hood and share tips, etc. Anyone else interested? Have any ideas for a good venue?

Comments

  • I would absolutely be interested..but I am a complete novice. I might need to take a class or something first. Let me know if you get something started.
  • Thanks for responding! Part of the idea behind a group would be that we'd help one another, so you could get guidance from the other knitters. I envision it as a mix of people of differing abilities. If you know of anyone else who might be interested, tell them about this post--or have them PM me.
  • The Sunset Park Recreation Center has a quilting group. They might be willing to host a knitting group as well. Speak to Karen Gripper.
  • I'm game. Every other neighborhood seems to have one!
  • Great--there are about four or so of us now, which I think would make a fine little group. I'd like it to be a bit more informal than something at the rec center, but I may approach them about it if another suitable venue doesn't present itself. One idea I had was meeting at Maria's in the garden--at least while the weather is good. But if anybody else has suggestions, please let me know.
  • Subject: Knitting and Crafting Group in Sunset Park

If you are interested in knitting/crafting in the area, my wife runs a free group.

We often get together in Park Slope for the convenience of other members, but we live in SP and would love to host some local meetups.

Check it out and join, and write to the organizer saying you live in the neighborhood.

If you are interested in crafting of any kind (knitting, quilting, crochet, etc.), I run a free group for local crafters. We get together a few times a month to do what it is we do and help each other learn.

We have members from all over Brooklyn, but we live in SP and would like to get more neighbors involved. The name of the group is Brooklyn Krafthaus and our site is:

    Thanks,
