thank goodness. I ate there twice. trying to love this place because i loved the environment. hated everything i ate there. once i went for brunch, by myself. ordered a fruit platter...it took them 1 hour to get this cold dish out to me. I think they ran to the store to buy the fruit. next time i went for dinner. my niece ordered the calamari...i could smell it was rotten as they were bringing it to the table. i thought i would throw up. i asked the waiter if he could smell that it was bad and he actually said NO! I thought it was poorly run and the menu SUCKED. not sorry to see them go... good riddence

I wondered how long they would last. Don't they have a location in Manhattan?
-
I ordered delivery from there once and wasn't impressed. To be fair though, the stuff I ordered isn't stuff that travels well (pasta with lobster) and I should have known better.

I agree w/ good one. didn't like the food. didn't like the attitudes..never felt particularly "welcomed" in this establishment. don't know why, just didn't think they were very warm and welcoming.
-
I hear all the complaints and share them... However, it's one of the great SPACES in the slope in terms of the size of the dining room and really parent/in-law friendly... If nothing else, I hope someone takes advantage of it.

That place is Feng Shui-d for mediocrity. Other than the stellar Lento's pizza, everything else in that locale is forgettable.
-
Yeah, not good so not surprised.
-
I never went to this place, is it in fact the same as the Manhattan black pearl? I really enjoyed their lunch (and the fact that my office was literally 5 floors above them!)
-
I had brunch at Black Pearl once. It was advertised as unlimited mimosas, but the person never came. The food was mediocre.
-
I'm kind of curious who's going to rent. I imagine the rent is pricey. Does anyone want to take bets? I'm guessing a bank or another Italian place.
-
did the brunch once as well. it was brunch. i did get my unlimited mimosas, though.
not a place i can imagine will be missed by generations to come, but a cozy enough location that someone with some imagination could turn into something really nice. -
i think if a really great restaurant came in there, it could do REALLY well.
mario batalli, can you hear us?
it's an ideal spot and ripe for a beautiful dining room with terrific food. -
I liked George, the bartender. Sweet guy from Serbia - hope he finds another gig in the hood.

I saw them working in there yesterday....i stopped and asked. They said they were renovating and will reopen in August to come back then. Who knows. Not sure if they are renovating and reopening as Black Pearl or something else.
