SPLIT TOPIC: is stutter racist? — Brooklynian

SPLIT TOPIC: is stutter racist?

MOD NOTE: This is a thread fragment based on some comments posted earlier today by "stutter" (alternately posting as "hificarrot") who insisted on posting "Obama is racist, Brooklynian is Censorship" comments on dozens of threads (existing and new). We'd love to see some intelligent poliical discourse, "liberal vs conservative" or what have you, and if the accusation is out there that Obama is racist, then by all means bring it on, we need to debate that. But in a way that doesn't involve name calling, rudeness, personal attacks, and shrill protests of some alleged violation of free speech. To paraphrase the rules, if your post gets deleted, it's not a First Amendment issue - it's probably an issue about you being a jerk. -DH

your post WAS racist.

perhaps you need to go read the "rules" at the top of the page.

  • wow. calling me a racist for being against racism. You are so progressive. Like Obama. Perhaps if I sat in a church and silently accepted racism for 20 years, I would be cool. How much I learn!

Take home point - speak out against racism and be called a racist. word up.
  • stutter, I don't want to engage you, but I fail to see how any intelligent person could construe your post as "speaking out against racism".
  • Yeah, the ole "I don't want to engage you but will call you a racist for being against racism." Take home point - sit silenty while those around you are racist but be sure and call names of those who speak out against racism. Yeah, that's the ticket. The ole "Bush is so bad, let's elect a racist who won't be photographed with a Muslim." Yeah! YEAH!
  • Could somebunny split this thread for "PS food coop", and like "is Obama racist" or "is stutter racist" or whatever?
  • Yay. Tanks.

The Obama campaign claimed that the two Muslim women asked to move were asked by volunteers, and that there was no such directive sent and that Obama and the campaign don't agree with what was done. They also apologized to the women in question, who accepted said apology and claim to harbor no ill feelings.

You aren't buying this then? Do you really think Obama would have requested them to be moved?
  • yes! I have just been proven correct by the moderators here! They are erasing my posts now in which I keep asking if those who deny racism, like brooklynpotter, are racist because of this denial. Censorship means I win! Thank you moderators!
  • troll. see ya
  • Daver, you are asking great questions, but half of my replies are being immediately being censored by the moderators. I am not cursing, not calling people names, just expressing while I feel Obama is racist and trying to respond to you. Please know that most of my responses to you are being instantly deleted. Very sad that this site only allows political conversations if you agree with the views of the moderators. So sad.
  • Someone's got a case of the Mondays...
  • MOTHERFUCKER. I can't keep up with the deletions, moves, and unmoves. I need faster fingers. Anyway.
brooklynbear wrote: BTW - I have made about 15-16 posts that have been deleted. The comrades here don't like freedom of speech. They don't like being told that racism is bad and thatBush being president doesn't change that fact.

Racism is bad, no matter how much the mods here hate Bush, racism is still wrong. Get over it, now.
Don't make personal attacks and restrict your comments to appropriate threads and I doubt you'll have much trouble. FYI.
  • Just an observation here, but by and large, I find that the people who complain the most about racism tend to be racist themselves.

Exactly and Mr. Change himself got the ball rolling last week.

  • Y'know, the republicans LOVE this shit. Just keep bickering amongst yourselves, trying to prove whose got more street cred, while another white man sweeps the election.
  • Eggcream, look at what the article actually says.
Obama says Republicans will use race to stoke fear

By Caren Bohan Fri Jun 20, 7:19 PM ET

JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Reuters) - Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama said on Friday he expects Republicans to highlight the fact that he is black as part of an effort to make voters afraid of him.

"It is going to be very difficult for Republicans to run on their stewardship of the economy or their outstanding foreign policy," Obama told a fundraiser in Jacksonville, Florida. "We know what kind of campaign they're going to run. They're going to try to make you afraid.

"They're going to try to make you afraid of me. He's young and inexperienced and he's got a funny name. And did I mention he's black?"

He said he was also set for Republicans to say "he's got a feisty wife," in trying to attack his wife Michelle.

"We know the strategy because they've already shown their cards. Ultimately I think the American people recognize that old stuff hasn't moved us forward. That old stuff just divides us," he said.

Obama, born to a white mother from Kansas and a black father from Kenya, has cast himself as a candidate who can bridge divides within the country, including those involving race.

It has been rare for him to bring up the topic during his presidential bid. In March he gave a widely praised speech on the subject after receiving criticism over racially charged comments by his longtime pastor.

Obama, who faces Republican John McCain in the November election, would be the first black U.S. president.
Is there a single thing Obama is quoted as saying in the article that is even the slightest bit inaccurate?

  • Kittens. Think about cute little kittens.
  • I love Kittens! But I hate racists. I wonder if Obama favors black kittens over white kittens? I wonder if white kittens are the cause of urinary tract kitten infections?

Honey, please go and take your meds. You're frothing at the mouth. You don't like Obama, don't vote for Obama. You are not going to convert people today.
