Is it still called Red Hot?
-
Is it the same location?
-
Ummm, I was there on my way home and the signs (and the guy) said Saturday.
-
Yeah, they appear to have changed from Wed to Saturday.
Same Location. Same looking menue. Same prompt delivery? we'll see :-) -
thats a nice little collage you made there.
-
hahahaha thanks, I figure, since I take crap photos, I can at least try to spruce them up a bit :-)
And the sign actually reads Red Hot II but it kinda blurred together. Camera phone, what can I say :-) -

this crappy quality collage is entirely unacceptable. I expect you to be out there, in the rain, with a tripod creating a suitable substitution. And, while you're there, grab me some fried rice.

kthx.
Anyway, I've never eaten at this place- what's the bestest thing to order? -
It's not so much about the food (which was always good, but not amazing) --it was about the split-second delivery time. You press end on your phone as your buzzer rings... and you live 20 blocks away.
Now that I live a handful of blocks over, I expect my food to be waiting for me when I get home, before I order maybe even before they open this weekend!
Hopefully they can live up to their old ways :-) -
Something about split-second delivery makes me question the quality and freshness of the food... I'd rather wait 20 minutes and (perhaps naively) assume that my food was actually made to order, than have it there instantly where there's no hope of that.
-
---^ agreed, in theory, but in practice, we always got what we ordered and as far as chinese food goes, it seemd quite fresh. Also, we generally order more off the beaten path dishes, which arrived just as quickly as your standards.
-
I always wondered about that too; I just figured they probably precooked a lot of stuff and would just give it a quick pass through the wok before boxing it up and shipping it out. At any rate, I never had a bad meal from there and appreciated the alacrity of the service.
-
I am so excited. I LOVE Red Hot. My alltime fav delivery place in the Slope. I hope the food is the same!
-
if everything is the same (name, location, menu, etc), why did they even bother to close down temporarily?
-
its about 50 cents more per menu item in my comparison.
-
I think they closed down because the rent went up. From what I understand, it's some of the same people, but that does not necessarily mean the same original owners. I'd say that probably the owners were done when the rent went up but some of the workers? saw an opportunity that they felt was worth the risk, and they're banking on the name/same menu etc to get the same old patrons. Afterall, it was often packed.
-
The temporary closure caused me to order from Hunan Delight, and I'm a covert. Much better food, and a decent delivery time. Never goin' back....
-
I picked up my menu today!! Just to see if it was different... Looked all the same to me, but I didn't compare to the old one.
I am so excited. Tomorrow: hot and sour soup!!
Wheee!
I can't wait to be able to pick up some rice and some well made choy sum with fresh garlic for dinner. -
we just had lunch there today. everything seems the same. not that i ate there often before. the place looked a little busier though, maybe everyone just wanted to try the new red hot.
i think they had problem with their register or something too, they lost our order info and took quite a while to get us the check. but no big deal.
Howdy, Stranger!
