Subject: PARENTS: Worry about your family's online privacy/security?

PARENTS: Are you concerned about what your children are viewing online, posting to sites like MySpace/YouTube/Facebook, or generally downloading to your family computer? Does it make you nervous that they're so technically savvy at such a young age? Do you wish you could speak openly and confidently with them about Internet privacy/security issues, or implement some control in your home, but don't know where to start?

If so, I can help!

I have 5+ years experience as an Information Security Officer at a major financial services firm. In addition to training some 4000+ employees on three continents, I also developed a presentation entitled "Look Both Ways Before Crossing... the Internet?" for Take Our Kids to Work Day in 2004.

I first delivered that presentation to 80 children ages 9-10, before amending it with "For Parents Only" content, and presenting the amended version to about 500 parents total in New York, Raleigh and London over time. I have repeated the children's version at subsequent Take Our Kids to Work Day events, and once for the entire 5th and 6th grades at a school in Manhattan.

The presentation covered passwords, email, chat programs, and websites... with the "for parents only" additions covering everything from online predators, sexually explicit content, privacy vs. anonymity, social networking sites (MySpace/YouTube/Facebook) and the dangers of having your kids know your credit card number.

Beyond all that, I have always been the 24/7 technical support line for my entire extended family, and I've been child-proofing computers for several years. :)

Please contact me if you would like to learn more about:
- What your children may already be seeing/doing online
- How to prevent them from seeing/doing things online you're not comfortable with

I can travel within Brooklyn and Manhattan for in-home, customized advisory and technical services most evenings and weekends. References available on request, and prices negotiable.
