circle line tour -- how early should i get there?

so the gf and i are thinking of taking the 3-hour, all the way around the little island, circle-line tour tomorrow. we want to take the last one of the day, which leaves at 4:30. we can buy tickets online, but they're not for a specific time.

how early should i go wait in line so we have a good chance of making that boat? she is leaving work early to do this, so it would stink like eggs if she left early and then we didn't get on the boat.

anyone done this before?

also, if i want to avoid the extra $10 charge by buying tickets in person, how bad will that line suck?

  • I did this once before on the spur of the moment - we got there about 1/2 before the boat and the line was not bad (waited about 10-15 min). There are lots of tourists in this week so I would just be prepared to get your ticket, grab some food or drink and then get on the boat.

Just bear in mind that the Circle Line is also conducting free tours of the Waterfalls and some of the crowd may be there for that but this was by reservation so I don't think they would be on your boat.

You are just sooo romantic :)
  • The tour is really fun, but the only time I went, it was for free as part of a charter with almost 200 other people, so it's not the same situation. I had been totally planning to blow it off at the time, thinking it would be lame and touristy, but it was actually really cool.
  • Bring sunscreen.
