New Fitness Studio in the Neighborhood
I am starting a fitness/dance studio in Crown Heights and I am interested in finding out (1) the types of classes that folks are interested in and (2) what, in your opinion, makes a class/studio successful.
The classes that I am toying with are boot camp, afro-caribbean dance, belly-dance, yoga, kick-boxing, hip-hop and toning. I also want to have classes for the young people in the neighborhood. When I lived in Clinton Hill there was a karate class on Fulton that was always filled with young boys from the neighborhood. I would like to have something like that.
Also, what makes a class excellent/good/bad?
What makes a teacher excellent/good/bad?
What makes a studio excellent/good/bad?
What types of services or amenities would you want in such a studio?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I really want this place to be a well thought out, positive addition to the neighborhood.
Thanks!

I'd love boot camp, pilates and/or strength training and perhaps a yoga class every now and then. I love the idea of a martial arts program that integrates young boys AND girls from the neighborhood. I might also try out a hip-hop class as long as everyone in the class didn't mind a good laugh.
Good class: very affordable at convenient times in a convenient location with a good instructor.
Good teacher: Technically sound, motivational character
Good studio: Convenient location and hours, clean
Amenities: Don't need much to be happy as long as it's clean, close to where I am and has good hours
Howdy, Stranger!
