Bike parking at Atlantic Ave or Nevins Subway — Brooklynian

Bike parking at Atlantic Ave or Nevins Subway

I just got a bike and was wondering if it would be safe to lock it up on any old sign post at Atlantic Ave or Nevins stations. I'm not asking if the bike is likely to be stolen (assume there's about as much chance there as anywhere), but more concerned that the police would 'remove' it if attached to 'city property' or something.

Any thoughts?

I've heard that sometimes they can indeed get strict about attaching bikes to signposts.

But if you're looking to lock something up near Nevins Street, there is a booth of designated bike parking on DeKalb and Flatbush, right by the Applebee's -- the same corner as the Dekalb Ave. stop for the D and the N.
  • Those bike racks at the DeKalb station are a nightmare. I've only had space to lock my bike to it once, and when I came home from work there was 3 more bikes piled up and around mine. Two people passing by had to help me pry everything apart to free my entrapped Schwinn. So yea I just lock it to a sign post by the coffee cart guy there.
