Fire Trucks on Vanderbilt Tonight

What was going on? I gathered they were rescuing some folks in some apts. on Dean, but didn't get a real story. What happened?

I heard today that there was something going on firewise at the Elderly Persons Residence, my "informant" saw the elderly people loaded into a bus, while the firemen checked out whatever the problem was. There is no visible damage to the building today, hopefully it was a false alarm, or just a small problem.

my friend who is an EMT with the FDNY said only that there was a fire, and that he had to deal with too many pyschiatric patients at once. i'll see if i can get more details.

My friend and I did not smell smoke, but we arrived after the street had already been closed off, plus it was cold and maybe a bit windy. I do like the fact that an actual fire gets the undivided attention of the authorities, in order to stop it from spreading should it get to that point.

Well, I like that and the fact that no one has been reported as hurt so far...
