Mine was crapping out as well.
I did a little investigating and found that sitemeter.com metrics scripts were lagging and otherwise failing to fully load, causing the entire page loads to break, resulting in visual trainwrecks where either CSS or images (including nav/position/bg images) just failed to load altogether, which makes the page fairly unusable (and eventually failures leak memory to point of blocking ability to refresh and see new content).
So in Adblock I now have the following blocked, and FF no longer craps out several times daily:
*.sitemeter.com (hells yes)
*.googlesyndication.com (sorry DH, but some folks make crappy flash ads)
*.googleadservices.com (ditto)
*.quantserve.com
*.doubleclick.net
*.vizu.com
*.2mdn.net
*.pointroll.com
..and so on, for the various ad servers
But definitely kill sitemeter. It's a free stats widget that many sites and blogs use to measure traffic, and unfortunately in recent years it has done more damage to unknowing visitors than benefit to site owners.
It's spread all over the web these days, like napalm. Up to you to stop the insanity.

As a follow up to this...
I had NOTHING in my special Adblock list. I put in *.sitemeter.com, and Brooklynian started working again in Firefox. Sort of. It would pause, wait several seconds or more, and then fully load. Very annoying delay. Because of the initial success, I just went hog wild and added your whole list. Lo and behold, Brooklynian started working 100% OK.
So, uh, WooHoo! -
