Restaurants

Hi everyone,

My wife and I recently moved to the neighborhood (WT). A family member is visiting us today and we would like to take him out to dinner in the area.

Unfortunately we haven't had a chance to explore the neighborhood too much, and would like some recs. We don't know what we are in the mood for, so any and all input would appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

  • Try 12th Street Grill (contemporary American cuisine). It's on 12th St. and 8th Ave. It's one of my faves -- great food, great wine, great atmoshphere. And while I guess it's technically in the Slope, it's close enough for WT to call it its own.
  • 12th Street grill is good. One of my staples - nothing fancy and the menu doesn't change often, but it's good

You can have brick oven pizza on PPW at Enzo's (or walk to 7th Ave and 14th-ish to go to Anthony's)

Kitchen Bar, BBQ and Toby's (also brick oven pizza) on 6th Ave. near 20th Street.

I haven't tried Da Vincenzo (PPW and Prospect) yet, but you can try that and sit outside for dinner.

    I hate Elora's.

Let us know where you end up
  • I've had a couple of very nice meals recently at Fez (Moroccan) on PPW btwn Windsor and Prospect Aves, next to the 24 hour Grocery Store.
Not sure how fancy you want to get. This is pretty casual.

They have a lovely outdoor garden and a DELICIOUS salmon burger.

I am a big fan of Da Vincenzo's as well.
  • I forgot Fez. Fez is nice, and has a garden. Enzo's has a garden too
  • These days 9th ave has pretty much become nothing but restaurants and real estates. Finding a restaurant should not be much of a problem.
  • Enzo's food is pleasant place to have a meal with friends. Sushi Yu is pretty good but the decor is lacking so its probably not great for a social call.
  • Thanks for all the great suggestions. My relative ended up not making it, but my wife and I decided to walk up and down 9th Ave and explore and ultimately decided on Da Vincenzo's.

It was very good. Fried zucchini sticks were awesome. The waitress was a sweetheart and we really enjoyed sitting outside and just people watching.

Thanks again for all the suggestions. I'm excited to be able to have so many options so close.
  • Glad to hear you liked it. What else did you (and your wife) eat? It's so close to my house, yet I haven't been there yet. Maybe next time my mom is in town.

I had the cheese tortellini which was good, but flavored with mint which at times was overpowering to me, but my wife loved it.

I can't for the life of me remember what she had. I will definitely be back.
