Ocean parkway bike path — Brooklynian

Ocean parkway bike path

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere...but I can't find it. What's the safest way to get to the bike path on Ocean Parkway...do you just exit the Park at Ocean Parkway, or is there a better (or safer) way?
thanks!

  • I think it's to go around the circle clockwise from the park, head up Ocean Parkway, and take a right on the path over the parkway, which will take you to the OP greenway.

Enjoy. It's a lovely ride, and I"m pretty skitterish riding in traffic, so the greenway is really a great alternative.
  • Yeah, from the circle, follow the service road along the entrance to the parkway, and then when you get to the intersection of Church & Ocean (where the parkway turns into Ocean), cross over to the west side of Ocean and it begins there.

Nice ride, just be careful of the cars turning across your path at the intersection. Some asshole somewhat-dangerously cut off a young woman and what looked like her younger brother -- her on rollerblades, him on a small bike -- while I was just a few feet behind. He clearly saw them, but rather than wait for them to cross, he gunned it and turned a bit wide around them & took off. Pissed us all off.
  • Thanks...I called Dixon's Sunday and they gave me directions...great ride!
