traffic on a weekday morning--time to LGA? — Brooklynian

traffic on a weekday morning--time to LGA?

I need to be at LGA around 8:45am on Thursday. I've never been in a car at this time so I was wondering if traffic is hectic enough to slow down at that time, on average?

I'm taking a cab and I would just go really early, but I'd rather let the dog have a few extra minutes at off-leash time. I think it usually takes about 15-20 minutes to get from my place (near GAP) to the airport in the wee hours of the morning.

Comments

  • I'd give it at least 45 minutes. I've had it take around at 7:30am on a weekday from Park Slope (so a bit farther but also earlier.)
  • I agree with Carmen. Anytime I've had to get to LGA on a weekday morning during rush hour its always taken about 45 minutes (either because the driver went through traffic or because the driver took a longer route to avoid traffic).
  • Go at 8 if not 7:45, you're probably going to hit a lot of traffic before the Kosciuszko Bridge empties out on the Queens side. Then you have to deal with the construction before the LGA exit on the BQE.
  • Subject: Alternatively, take the dreaded G train to LIC

If you are near the G train, take it to Long Island City and get a cab from there. It will take about 15 mins from Court Square to LGA and cost less.
