New to the neighborhood/NYC , any1 wanna ride bikes ?
So, I've been in the process of moving to NY from Seattle for the past 6 months (its complicated, and only discussable over beer), and recently signed a least on an apt near the parade grounds (crooke ave, betw st paul and parade). I've been riding around brooklyn and manhattan solo for a few months off/on, but wouldn't mind some company for a ride some weekday evening.
I can go fast, I can go slow, I don't mind traffic, cabs, bridges, hills, whatever. I'm really keen on meeting people who live more or less in my neighborhood, as everyone I know in NY either lives in Manhattan or in Williamsburg/Greenpoint.
In any case, I'll be back in brooklyn next Thursday (28th), so if anyone wants to meet up around the Ocean + Parkside Ave entrance to Prospect park around say...7pm, I'd be happy to roll around and buy the 1st round afterward.
I'm actually wanting to ride a LOT more while the weather's nice, so any day after the 28th will work (provided its sun - thurs).
PM me or post to this topic if you're interested.
ps..if it matters, I'm a guy, about 30, and ride a single-speed (not fixed)

Why don't you join one of the rides of the many bike clubs in the area?
Try nycc.org 5bbc.org, times-up.org
It is always very hard to find people who are ready to bike when you are and want to go to the same areas, and can go in a similar speed, on your own. These clubs have more than 2,000 members and have rides almost everyday, several on the weekends. Through them you can easily hook up with like minded individuals.
I am a member of NYCC and am very happy with how they are organized and setup.

Thanks for the tip, I'll definately look into those clubs when I get back next week.

Subject: a suggestion
Hey, you can also try www.MyWorkoutSpot.com I used them to find a workout partner at my gym but looks like lots of people use them for local cycling and running partners too.
worked for me!
let me know if it works for you
