Subject: very old times

I lived on 22nd st. just above 4th ave., between the Iorio's & Pagano's in the late 50's until going into the service. I hung with Joe Petrolino from 4th ave. & maybe 26th st. We were always into some kind of trouble, so that may be how I'm best rembered - if at all! Does anyone remember the Ogno's, Johnny & Basil? The father was a barber. How about Joey & Roseann Iorio & Caroline & Kelly the cab driver? Nunzio & his brother Detzi, Anna & Pete Pagano? There were so many more & its been so long I can't remember them all. I remember Connie Miele from back in the day & how she'd always stop by Caroline Iorio's & discuss all the numbers they dreamed about the previous night. The card games @ Kelly's with the big cars lined up on the block for what seemed like days at a time sometimes. The Garden apts. on 4th ave. cruising in Greenwood, which was better than any park for taking the girls to make out! Casa Storta, The side street bar, D'amicos, Scarpaci's, Seaman's hall, etc. Years later I met & have been close friends with Matty Miele & his late wife Joan. I was made aware of this blog thru a girl named Lori, who is from the neighborhood & I think a cousin to the Miele's', at a christmas party @ Nino's on Staten Island, in January of this year. She suggested I get on here & re-new old acquaintances & friendships. So here I am. Lets see what happens.
